Join the Clay County African American Legacy (CCAAL) for its 22nd annual Juneteenth celebration with an expanded weekend of events: 2 day festival showcasing the heritage of the Black community of Clay County with BBQ, Blues, Jazz & History. Friday, June 17, will kick off the celebration with a 6PM Parade - starts near Hillcrest Hope Thrift Store. Parade route: North on Main St to Garrison Cultural Center, with a dedication of the Sankofa Bird sculpture and festivities at Garrison School at 7PM.
Saturday, June 18, will start at 9AM with the dedication of the African American Legacy Memorial at Fairview New Hope Cemetery followed by the Clay County Juneteenth Festival at 11:15AM:THELEGACYMEMORIAL F BBQ, blues, jazz and history in historic downtown Liberty. Enjoy an outdoor marketplace, food, entertainment, and live music by JJ and The Old School Band. This event will feature a BBQ contest held by the Kansas City Barbeque Society.
